CONCERTO

Discover the man behind the music and one of the most celebrated composers of all time, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.  How often do you look at a great work of art and think ‘how did that happen?’ And, well, somebody paid for that. Somebody worked on that and refined it, but the finished product 120 years later is all you see. Concerto reveals the story behind the creation of Tchaikovsky’s infamous 1878 violin concerto. The masterpiece that would become one of the most beloved concertos in history.  You will be transported by a tale so few know with vivid characters from a gilded age, live music, and a surprising true-to-life turn of events.  Concerto is produced in collaboration with Maestro Alexander Mickelthwate of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

*Lyric is pleased to present an ASL-interpreted performance of this production, which will be Sept. 23rd at 2 p.m.
