This summer has flown by and has been a ton of fun in the process. I am so grateful to have been able to work at such an incredible place. I have learned a lot about the business of running a theatre and a non-profit and it is not easy, but it is very fulfilling. Even though I had very little to do with the actual shows this summer it is very rewarding to watch the curtain open and see how all of the hard work paid off.
This summer has been full of new experiences for me, such as putting together the preshow. Even though it is such a small show it takes a lot to put it together. Ultimately it is very rewarding to see the Thelma Gaylord Academy students take the stage and share their talents.
I have truly learned so much this summer and have been able to see and meet some world-class talent. This summer has really influenced my decision to pursue a masters degree in either music business or arts administration. I am very thankful for this summer and for all the people that I have worked with. I could not ask for anything better.
Next weekend we have our final show of the summer. Chita Rivera My Broadway. It is sure to be a great time in the theatre. You don’t want to pass up the chance to see a living legend.
I am so excited about everything that Lyric Theatre has accomplished this year. I wouldn’t change this experience for the world.
That’s all from the intern.
