In case you haven’t heard, the second annual run of LYRIC’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL kicked off last Friday. The first few performances have been wonderful, but I want to take a moment to tell you about a recent event I was fortunate to attend.
One of Lyric’s biggest corporate supporters, Chesapeake Energy, was named to the top ten companies in the nation for private-sector support of the arts by Business Committee of the Arts (BCA). The awards ceremony was to be held in New York City, so imagine my surprise when Chesapeake called and invited me to accompany them to the presentation to represent Lyric and the arts in Oklahoma! Of course, I accepted immediately.
The morning of the ceremony, I met representatives from other Oklahoma arts organizations and Chesapeake at the airport and we were off on a quick trip to the Big Apple. Along for the trip was C. Kendric Fergeson, chairman of the Board of Directors of Americans for the Arts and chairman and CEO of NBC Oklahoma.
The dinner and awards ceremony were lovely and even included a performance by Tony Award Nominee Rebecca Luker!
Big congratulations to Chesapeake and thank you for including me in the celebration. It was a fantastic experience!
