As a nonprofit organization that has been supported by the generosity of Oklahomans for 50 years, it’s impossible for those of us at Lyric to not wonder how we can give back to the community that has done so much for our theatre and the Thelma Gaylord Academy.

Last year, during the premier of LYRIC’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, a plan was hatched to help improve the lives of our fellow Oklahomans. Donations were gathered from the audience at the end of each performance and more than $18,000 was raised. The money was then donated to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. With more than 675,000 Oklahomans at risk for going hungry every day, hunger is a major issue in our state and each $1 donation provides 5 meals.

Those of you who have already seen the show know that donations are being collected for the Regional Food Bank once again during this year’s run of LYRIC’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL. We’re so thankful to be able to help feed hungry Oklahomans and thank you to all of our patrons who have donated so generously and will continue to do so until the show closes on December 29.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from all of us at Lyric!
