I made it through the first month of my internship and I think it’s going pretty well. I mean, I haven’t broken down in tears or anything, so that’s a good sign. I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with a theatre like Lyric! I grew up performing, but I never realized there was this much involved with getting one show onto the Lyric stage. Someone should really make a reality show about it.
Anyway, as we prepare for opening night of THE GLASS MENAGERIE, things are getting a little more hectic over here. In case you need a little reminder, the show dates are March 27 through April 13, and to celebrate the opening of the second show of Lyric’s 50th Anniversary Season, I came up with a fun little game all of our fans can play just by visiting Lyric’s Facebook page beginning Tuesday, March 12 at 1 pm. You might even win a prize!
THE GLASS MENAGERIE is all about a family’s struggle through life and love, featuring one character’s obsession with her collection of glass animals. Since “glass menagerie” literally means “glass zoo,” I thought it would be interesting to incorporate one into the contest.
The name of the game is “Guess the Glass,” and it’s very simple. I will upload zoomed-in pictures of glass animal figurines to our Facebook and you have to guess what animal it is. Sounds easy enough, right?
Here’s an example.
What could that be? Keep in mind that it could be any part of the animal. Take your guess before you scroll down any more!
The correct answer is…
Now that you get the gist of it, there are a few rules:
1. You must currently “like” us on Facebook. I mean, you should be doing that anyway, right?
2. You are only allotted one guess per picture.
3. The first person to correctly guess the animal (on their first attempt) wins that round!
After the first animal is correctly guessed, the next photo will be uploaded, and so on.
Now, I’m sure you’re all pumped and ready to play, but don’t you want to know what you could win? The winner of each round will receive a ticket to see THE GLASS MENAGERIE at the Plaza Theatre! Exciting! Just keep an eye on our Facebook page to “Guess the Glass.”
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
