With over 17 traditional carols, LYRIC’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a feast for the ears! The cast sounds wonderful singing some of our most classic Christmas songs, and it makes us smile every time that we hear it. We polled our staff to see which of those songs was their favorite- here are their responses!

Ashley Wells, Associate Artistic Director: “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” This is a silly reason but it makes me smile. It makes me smile because I think of A Charlie Brown Christmas when I hear it.

Mark Walker, Business Office Assistant: ‘Angels We Have Heard on High’ — It’s upbeat, and I used to love playing it on the piano in my youth!

Christopher Sieker, Wardrobe Master: “I Saw Three Ships”! I love the version we do in LYRIC’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The drums at the beginning of the song are very folk-y and it makes me want to do a jig… Let’s be honest, I do a jig every time.

Bailey Dunning, Academy Administrator: All of the above because I would listen to Christmas music year-round if I could 🙂

Michael Baron, Artistic Director: I like the acapella version of “O Come, All Ye Faithful”. It’s sung beautifully during a simple transition into the Cratchit family’s Christmas dinner and perfectly sets the mood of the scene to come.  It also allows Scrooge to join in to celebrate with the carolers for just a moment during his journey toward redemption.

Dawn Drake Toney, Director of Civic Production: “God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen.” I like the harmonies.
