Try to Remember

by Mar 14, 2016

We all have those musicals we could listen to for hours on end, and more specifically those specific songs. Whether it’s a rainy day, an uneventful weekend, or a mellow September day, everyone could use an old school musical theatre classic every once in awhile. Here are some of our favorite recordings of “Try to Remember” from THE FANTASTICKS, written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt.

First, we have to start with El Gallo himself, Jerry Orbach. He was in the original off-Broadway cast of THE FANTASTICKS, and created the role of El Gallo.

Next, we have performance royalty, Dame Julie Andrews. She has graced stages across the world, making her Broadway debut in 1954, and successfully branching into television and film as well.

Patti Page is most well-known as the best female artist of the 1950s, hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here is her rendition of this timeless classic.

Lastly, we have the angelic voice of Josh Groban, who spent the first part of his life pursuing drama, only to take a recording contract his first year of college.

To get a taste of this song and many others voiced by local actors, get your tickets to Lyric’s THE FANTASTICKS, opening April 6th. The talented local cast is sure to provide you a wonderful evening of theatre.
