2018 Broadway Ball

Lyric’s 23rd annual Broadway Ball gala will take place on Friday, November 2nd at 6:30pm in the grand ballroom of the beautiful Embassy Suites Hotel near Downtown Oklahoma City.

In 1943, the musical Oklahoma! opened on Broadway, transforming musical theater. In 1953, the title song was adopted as Oklahoma’s official state song. And in 1963, the groundbreaking musical opened Lyric’s inaugural season. The musical Oklahoma! is of significant importance to our state and to Lyric Theatre. That is why, it is with great excitement that we announce Lyric’s 23rd Annual Broadway Ball Gala will be a part of the 75th anniversary celebration of the musical Oklahoma! We hope you will join us on Friday, November 2nd as we host festivities that will be reminiscent of the glitz and glamour of an opening night on Broadway.

It is our pleasure to announce our honorees for the evening. The theatre’s top honor, the John E. Kirkpatrick Award, is given by Lyric’s board of directors to individuals who have a deep sense of commitment and dedication to musical theatre and theatre education. In celebration of her decade of devoted service to Lyric’s Board and her steadfast work on the launch and formative years of Lyric’s Thelma Gaylord Academy, the 2018 John E. Kirkpatrick Awardwill be given posthumously to Jeannine Rainbolt. Also receiving the 2018 John E. Kirkpatrick Award will be Gene Rainbolt, an avid theatre lover who has continued Jeannine’s legacy of support for Lyric and Oklahoma’s thriving arts community.

This black tie event will includes drinks, dinner and and a performance you won’t want to miss! If you are interested in donating an auction item or would like more information, please contact Chantry Banks at (405) 524-9310 x225 or by email.

Meet our 2018 Broadway Ball Headliner

Originally from Washington, DC and now based out of New York, Bligh is thrilled to be returning to Lyric Theater in the Steve Martin musical BRIGHT STAR in 2019. She was previously seen at Lyric as MaryJane Wilkes in BIG RIVER. She recently finished touring the country regionally with Hunter Foster’s production of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET where she played the role of Dyanne in over 400 performances. She also made her New York Musical Theater Festival debut as the lead in THE TIME MACHINE and her off-Broadway debut in LOVELESS TEXAS, a new musical based off of Shakespeare’s LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST.

Bligh has a solo show called “No Really, I’m Not Crazy” that had its NYC premiere at The Green Room 42 this spring and then was reprised in DC at Signature Theater later that summer. She recently conceived and wrote the book for a new Cole Porter revue that debuted at Arena Stage with The American Pops Orchestra called “Let’s Misbehave: Cole Porter After Dark.”
