Spotlight on Lyric’s Supporters: David J. Flesher, MD
Throughout 2016, we’ll be spotlighting many Lyric supporters across the organization. This month, we’re starting with Dr. David J. Flesher, who served as president of Lyric’s Board of Directors from 2013 through 2015.
“My grandmother, Margaret Lamb Coston, always wanted to be a Radio City Rockette. She was an enthusiastic early supporter and patron of Lyric and began taking us to the theatre when we were very young. We had such fond memories of attending shows with her at OCU.
When Lyric moved to the Civic Center in 2002, Lisa and I carried on the tradition by purchasing four season tickets so we could attend and share the experience of musical theater with our two young children. We were there for practically every opening night! In 2005, a Lyric board member who sat near us, Bob McKown, approached me about joining the Board because he saw how dedicated we were to the theatre.
That twist of fate opened the door for many opportunities for me and my family to enjoy and support all that Lyric has to offer. My children participated for many years in the Thelma Gaylord Academy and are now both continuing their careers in the theater world and entertainment industry. I even made my stage debut in 2014’s LES MISERABLES with a walk on role I won at Lyric’s Broadway Ball.
It has been and continues to be such an enriching pleasure to have been involved with Lyric all these years. I am so proud of the quality of the productions and the direction the theater is taking. Lyric’s future is very bright!”
