My name is Ryan and I, along with my friend Eloise Kropp will be blogging and sharing a first hand accounts of what it is like to be apart of this amazing company’s summer season.  One of the most amazing things about this summer is that there is something for everyone.  Michael Baron and the wonderful people at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma have picked some fantastic shows to entertain the entire family.  We kick off the summer with the classic Dickens tale of “Oliver!” For the title role of Oliver and his crafty comrade, the Artful Dodger, Lyric theatre has selected two wildly talented local boys.  However, those are not the only fresh faces you will see on the stage, to fulfill the large amount of orphans, thieves, and workhouse children needed for Oliver, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will include well over 50 youngsters from around the Oklahoma City area! A summer season wouldn’t be complete without a feel food musical comedy, and Hairspray is just that!  Following Hairspray, we have the Great American Musical “Ragtime,” which is sure to be a dazzling production!  The music of Ragtime is nothing short of epic, having won the Tony for best Original score, this show must be seen and heard! And closing out the summer we finish with “A Chorus Line.,” which at one time was the longest running Broadway musical of all time, and for good reason.  The show follows 19 aspiring dancers looking for their chances to grace the Broadway stage.  The dancing and incredible singing is not to be missed.

SO WHO AM I? Ryan Fitzgerald - Lyric blogger

Well, my name is Ryan Fitzgerald and I graduated from the University of Oklahoma last year earning a BFA in Musical Theatre.  I’m a Coloradoan thru and thru, having been raised outside Boulder, CO.  This summer marks my second season with Lyric, having debuted last year in the highflying musical extravaganza Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the all time classic 42nd Street.  Following last summer I joined the Walt Disney Corporation and performed all over the Caribbean on the Disney Magic, the first ship in the Disney Cruise Line Fleet.  This summer I will be playing the part of Noah Claypole in Oliver, Fender in Hairspray, and Bobby in A Chorus Line.  I can’t even begin to tell you how excited and honored I am to be apart of such an amazing cast and performing for a incredibly wonderful company.  This summer is just the start of a phenomenal future for Lyric, and I can’t wait to see what the talented Micheal Baron has in store!
