Organization Summary

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, The Official State Theatre, provides joy and inspiration to thousands annually. We present six or more productions yearly, staging more than 103 live performances at the 2400-seat Civic Center Music Hall and the 280-seat Plaza Theatre. Our Interactive arts outreach touches more than 160,000 students across the state. In addition, we have the premier musical theatre training academy in the state, providing students ages six and older with a variety of private lessons, class lessons, and production opportunities, including participation in the Junior Theatre Festival each year on the regional and national level. As a self-producing arts organization, we employ artists and artisans in a variety of skill sets and take great pride in contributing to the economy, creativity, and conversation in our state.

Position Summary

Group Sales representative should be a warm, outgoing self-starter, with a desire and passion to attract groups of individuals to experience high-quality musical theatre productions at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. An ideal candidate will have strong presentation and communications skills, take pride in an attention to detail, be adept at building long term relationships for the organization, and understand the importance of clear documentation of processes. They should be a self-starter with proven customer service experience, excellent follow-through, represent the organization in a professional manner, and have a track record of good communications with a supervisor. This part-time hybrid position with commission, will work with the Director of Marketing and Sales to establish and execute best practices while re-establishing and creating new long-term relationships with community partners including, but not limited to, corporate sales, club sales, senior centers, retirement homes, and out-of-state touring companies.

This is a part-time salary plus commission-based position that will require 15-25 hours of work each week throughout the year. Bonuses for achieving pre-determined sales goals are offered.

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Sales and interphases with the box office department. It is a hybrid position requiring in-office and in-person meetings throughout the week,

This employee will also need a proven proficiency in tech and data-tracking experience. The ideal candidate for this position will be personable, outgoing, collaborative, forward-thinking, analytical, innovative, positive, and professional, and come to us with significant customer service experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, update and maintain group sales contacts with potential group sales clients across the city, region, and state.
  • Generate new leads and nurture the relationship with in-person, phone, and email communications
  • Have experience with CRM systems, (Patron Manager a plus), data tracking, and documenting sales progress and be adaptable to new technologies
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Sales to maintain best practices for sales and service.
  • Work with marketing staff to develop and implement promotions, sales, and acquisition strategies.
  • Have great in-person, phone, and email etiquette.
  • Learn ticketing processes and group sales strategies, be open to continual growth, and learn how to optimize sales.

  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with computers.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease, professionalism, and positivity
  • Self-directed, creative, and flexible; able to problem-solve, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry 20+ pounds
  • Reliable transportation to and from Lyric’s performance venues and offices

Education and Experience Required

  • Previous sales and/or customer service experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in nonprofits and/or sales
  • Ability to set and achieve sales goals
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • 2 or 4 years of college preferred
  • CRM experience a plus, Patron Manager preferred

Compensation

This is an exempt, part-time position with a salary plus commission commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is required to be in-person, but able to work a hybrid schedule as agreed with the supervisor. Evenings and weekends and some holidays may be required. Hours range from 15 – 25 a week. The successful candidate will need to pass a criminal background and references check.
