Editor’s Note: This post is written by Wilson, one of the interns working in our offices this summer. You can look forward to his blog posts each week.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma has been a place that I have called home for many years. I was a kid in the Thelma Gaylord Academy and met some of my best friends in the world there. I was also just recently in the production of SPRING AWAKENING.

I have learned so much from my years at this theatre about performing and professionalism on stage, but I never realized how much behind the scenes work that it took. For the past week I have been learning how much it takes to run a theatre and a non-profit.

It takes a whole bunch of work.

Each day I have been sitting down and speaking to the people that work in the different departments and have learned very much. I’ve gotten a quick overview of everything from marketing to budgets. There is so much that happens behind the scenes, and none of it is easy. There are countless hours of work to be done before rehearsals start.

I thought I knew a lot about Lyric, but there is so much that goes on behind the scenes. I am very excited to learn about everything and see how a non-profit theatre works.

Stay tuned for more blog posts,

That’s it from the intern!
