Enrollment for Lyric Academy's summer camp program and workshops will begin on Monday, April 21st.
The Thelma Gaylord Academy and Lyric Production Center are housed in a joint facility, one block west of the Plaza Theatre. Officially named in 2006 to honor one of Lyric's founders, the Thelma Gaylord Academy has grown over five years to become an outstanding resource for Oklahoma's youth. While a small number of Academy graduates go on to musical theatre careers, all students benefit from stellar professional training. The Academy offers wonderful opportunities to develop skills in teamwork, leadership, public speaking, and, of course, to build friendships and have fun.
Facts:
- Over 300 children, ages 5-18, along with many adults, receive musical theatre training at Lyric's NW 16th facilities each year.
- Over 20 classes are offered throughout the year in acting, music, dance, and theatre technology.
- Over 3,500 students in and around OKC benefit from outreach programs designed to use the musical theatre repertoire to enhance the teaching of school curricula.
