On May 14th at 2 and 7 pm… come see Thelma Gaylord Academy’s RoKademy in thier rock-n-roll musical, Teenagers on Mars! Director Matthew Alvin Brown and student put thier heads together to write this groovy show featuring songs of Rush, Radiohead, Tenacious D, David Bowie, Elton John, Heart, Eels, The Flaming Lips, The Foo Fighters, Trent Reznor, and Arcade Fire.
In the tradition of theatrical rock bands like Styx and Pink Floyd, The Teenagers on Mars Band presents to you a story told through a rock concert. Don’t think too much about the plot. There isn’t much of one. Your job is to sit back and listen to the music. Our story revolves around 9 teenagers in a dystopian future Earth. Overpopulation has reached it’s zenith and to make matters worse, the entire planet is ruled by a gigantic computer named “Ok!” Due to massive overcrowding, “Ok!” has chosen 9 of the most intelligent youngsters on Earth to colonize a new planet. This is our band: The Teenagers on Mars. While on Mars, the kids discover some unsavory secrets about “Ok!” and decide take matters into their own hands…
